With custom fields, you can have your own set of fields to standardise and regulate data that is captured for a job of any type, thereby restricting the data to be entered only in a specific format.
The custom fields once created can be applied to different quote types.
A sample screen of how the custom fields will be displayed on a quote inspector is shown below:
NOTE: If a custom field is removed from your Loc8 system, the value entered against the custom field in a quote will remain intact.
STEP 1 Open the Settings from the Quotes workspace to access the quotes-specific custom fields.
Under the Quote settings context menu, select Custom fields.
STEP 2 The custom fields will be organised under the custom field groups.
First, click +Add custom field group as shown below:
Then define the custom fields you wish to add in this group.
In the Override edit permissions section, you can define which user licenses can have the permission to edit the values against the custom fields on the associated quotes. This will enable them to change the values on the custom fields when viewing the quote.
A default set of permissions has been provided per custom field group.
You can change the default settings according to your requirement, such as, you may want all your technicians to have the ability to edit the values on the custom fields.
To do so, just select the checkbox against that user license and Save.
At any point if you wish to revert back to the default permission settings, just click Reset.
You can review a summary of the enabled permissions on the custom field group at any time.
The custom field group is now ready to be associated with a quote type.
Associating Custom Fields with Quote Types
You will associate the custom field group with a particular quote type so that when you create a new quote you will see the custom field group and the custom fields within it on the quote inspector.
STEP 1 Go to the Types tab.
What are the different field types you can apply to custom fields
There are a wide range of field types available for you to choose from when creating custom fields. This will ensure the values entered for those custom fields are saved reliably.
All the field types that you can set for a custom field are shown in the example below:
The field types, as their name suggests, expect the same input as their Type name.
The List type has an additional step to add in the options, which will then appear in the dropdown list.
Creating a List Type Custom Field
STEP 1 Select List type from the dropdown list and name the custom field. You can also ensure the user fills out the custom field without fail by making it a mandatory field.
STEP 2 Enter the options one at a time and save them.
The custom field groups and custom quote fields are now available as shown below:
This is how you can create a collection of custom fields under custom field groups and apply them to any Quote Type.
