Configure Custom Fields for Quotes
Learn how to configure your own set of fields for quotes to better capture quote details in combination with the standard fields
Updated over a week ago

With custom fields, you can have your own set of fields to standardise and regulate data that is captured for a job of any type, thereby restricting the data to be entered only in a specific format.

The custom fields once created can be applied to different quote types.

A sample screen of how the custom fields will be displayed on a Quote profile is shown below:

NOTE: If a custom field is removed from your Loc8 system, the data captured against the quote that uses it will remain intact.

STEP 1 Open the Settings from the Quotes workspace to access the quotes specific configurations, in this case the Custom fields.

STEP 2 The custom fields will be organised under the custom field groups. Name the custom field group and define the fields that it will contain.

The custom field group is created and now available to be associated with a quote type.

STEP 3 Go to the Types tab to associate the custom field group with a particular quote type so that when you create a new quote you will see the custom field group and the custom fields within it on the quote profile.

There are a wide range of field types available for you to choose from when creating custom fields to ensure the data is stored reliably.

The complete set of available field types are shown using examples below:

All of the field types are quite self-explanatory, they expect the same input as indicated by their Type name.

The List type is no different, only that it has an additional step to add the options that should appear in the dropdown list (as shown in the next section).

Creating a List Type Custom Field

STEP 1 Select List type from the dropdown list and name the custom field. You can also ensure the user fills out the custom field without fail by making it a mandatory field.

STEP 2 Enter the options one at a time and save them.

This is how you can create a collection of custom fields under custom field groups and apply them to any Quote Type.

To know more about how to create and configure new quote types, see Configure Quote Types.
