Add Asset Data Group to Asset Type (Outdated in 4.25)

Learn how to associate the custom parameters of an asset data group with asset type to help you define and create assets

PREREQUISITES

  1. All parameters that describe the physical asset have been created in Settings > Asset Data Groups. For example, a voltage parameter for a compressor has been created as shown below:

If this hasn't been done yet, you can follow the steps in Create Asset Data Groups and Add Custom Parameters.

2. The required asset type has been created in Loc8. For example, the Compressor has been created under the hierarchy Asset Class > Air Conditioner > Compressor as shown below: 

If this hasn't been done yet, you can follow the steps in Create Asset Type.

STEP 1 Go to the Settings page.

STEP 2 Open the Asset Types manager.

STEP 3 Navigate to the asset type to which you want to add the data groups.

STEP 4 Open the Add Custom Data Group page.

STEP 5 Select one or more data groups for the asset type and save the selection.

Now when you create a new asset of this particular asset type, the parameters marked as Required in the data groups will need your input. In the example shown below, the parameter Volt now appears under the Type Prerequisites section:
