Learn how to mark regions covered by your business on a map and link them to technicians active in those areas for improved job assignment

Updated over a week ago

To get a clear view of the spread of assets you're looking after, you can mark the boundaries of a region on a map. This region can then be used to associate with other sites and as well as tag your workforce to their preferred work regions. You will soon notice that the association that you establish between the members of your workforce and the regions in which they prefer to operate greatly improves job assignments.

In this article, we will discuss the association from the perspective of a Workforce inspector:

Alternatively, you can associate a region with the members of your workforce from the Regions area under Settings -> Admin Settings. To learn more, see Associating Regions with Workforce to Define their Work Regions.

Viewing the existing regions

This step helps you to check whether or not the required regions are already available in your Loc8 system.

To view the existing regions and their subregions, just navigate to Settings -> Admin Settings -> Regions.

If you want to add new regions or a subregions right now, see the article Create Regions and Subregions.

Tag your workforce with their preferred regions

STEP 1 Go to the Workforce workspace and open that particular profile to specify the regions in order to establish an association between the person and their preferred regions.

STEP 2 In the Work Regions field, select from the list of regions.

This list corresponds to the regions existing under Settings -> Admin Settings -> Regions.

You may also select the Restrict access to assigned work regions checkbox to further enforce this team member to view only jobs and assets that are strictly within the selected regions.

The team member is now tagged with their preferred regions.

Assign your Workforce based on Regions

STEP 1 After you have added regions and tagged them to your team, select a job to assign to your workforce.

STEP 2 Select from the list of technicians, check the regions specified under them and assign accordingly.

In the example above, the two members of the workforce operate within the same region where the job is.

At any time, you can choose to see the full list of all the members of your workforce irrespective of the region restrictions. Just click Ignore assignee requirements and DONE.

If you want to go back to seeing the filtered suggestions, turn OFF the Match Regions filter.

Along with regions, you can also tag your technicians with their on their trade skills. To know more, read Create Trades and Add them to your Workforce for Improved Job Assignments.
